Buffalo Art Events is a free resource for finding exhibitions, openings, and visual arts related programming across the region. We pull from the email newsletters we already subscribe to — and we welcome submissions from organizations we haven't found yet.
We built it because finding out what's happening across the region's galleries, museums, and art spaces required following dozens of different email lists and social accounts. This calendar brings it all into one place, updated weekly, free for anyone to use.
The project is part of the 2026 BICA–Cornelia Buffalo Art Map — our annual print guide to galleries and cultural institutions in the region. The Map page on this site is the digital version of that guide.

This calendar is a project of BICA — the Buffalo Institute for Contemporary Art — and Cornelia, a program of BICA.
BICA is a nonprofit artist-run space on Buffalo's West Side, dedicated to fostering contemporary visual art through exhibitions, education, and community programming. Cornelia is a visual arts review for Western New York and Southern Ontario, Canada — in print and online.
Buffalo has a rich and varied cultural scene — and plenty of great resources covering theatre, music, and nightlife. This calendar has a specific focus: visual arts and the programming that surrounds them.
We're not the right place for every event in town, but we are the right place for anything connected to visual art, craft, and the spaces that support them in this region.
Not sure if your event is a fit? Send it over — we'd rather review it than miss something worth sharing.
Each week, we run a script that reads the email newsletters we subscribe to, uses AI to extract event details, and updates the calendar. It's automated, but it's supervised — we review what comes in and correct anything the system gets wrong.
The calendar is updated once a week. If you submit an event or we receive your newsletter for the first time, it will typically appear within a week — sometimes a few days sooner, sometimes right at the seven-day mark depending on when in the cycle we receive it.
The easiest way to keep your events on the calendar is to add our inbox to your newsletter list. We subscribe to dozens of local arts organizations already — if we're not on yours, subscribe this address to your list:
bica.buffalo.art.map@gmail.com
Once we're subscribed, your events will flow in automatically each week, no extra steps needed on your end.
Don't have a newsletter, or want to flag something specific? You can email event details directly to us. Keep it simple — just include the key information and we'll handle the rest.
One event per email works best. The more detail you include, the more complete the listing will be.
Our system is designed to extract event details from plain text — you don't need a special format. But a few pieces of information are essential for the listing to work. The more you include, the better the listing.
Without a title, date, and location, we can't create a listing. Everything else helps us give readers the full picture.
Email your event details, press release, or newsletter subscription request to Emily at BICA. We'll take it from there. Remember: the calendar updates weekly, so allow up to seven days for your listing to appear.
The Art Map is a companion to this calendar — a directory of galleries, museums, and cultural spaces across the Buffalo–Niagara region. It's based on the annual BICA–Cornelia Buffalo Art Map print publication.
The map currently includes 49 locations across six neighborhoods and areas: Downtown, Allentown & First Ward; Elmwood Village & West Side; Eastside & Larkinville; North Buffalo & Tonawanda; Niagara Falls & Lockport; and the Southtowns.
We update the map in coordination with our annual print publication. If your space isn't listed and you believe it should be, reach out — we're always looking to make sure the map reflects the full scope of visual arts spaces in the region.
Email us your space's name, address, neighborhood, website, and regular hours and we'll review it for inclusion in the next map update.
Buffalo Art Events is in beta. That means listings may occasionally have errors — a wrong date, a missing time, or an event type that doesn't quite fit. We review and correct what comes in, but if you spot something off, please let us know.
We're also actively expanding which organizations and newsletters we pull from. If there's a gallery, institution, or publication we should be following, send us the tip.
